“I absolutely love our glass and drinks holder for our new home Chris at CRD made in short notice. The time frame was also short as we really wanted this for a house warming party, but he got the job done. I would recommend to anyone wanting something similar for their home"

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of epoxy flooring do you install?

We install three main epoxy flooring systems, each suited to different aesthetics and environments:

Metallic Epoxy creates a high-gloss, seamless finish with a flowing, three-dimensional appearance using fine metallic pigments. No two floors are identical — the result is a genuinely bespoke surface that's as much a design feature as a floor. Popular for residential living spaces, showrooms, and commercial interiors where visual impact matters.

Flake (Broadcast) Epoxy uses coloured vinyl flakes scattered across a resin base coat to create a speckled, textured finish. Available in a wide range of colour blends, it offers excellent durability and natural slip resistance, making it a practical and attractive choice for garages, workshops, commercial kitchens, and high-traffic areas.

Quartz Epoxy incorporates coloured quartz aggregate for a hard-wearing, slip-resistant finish with a consistent, professional appearance. Particularly well suited to commercial and industrial environments — including food preparation areas, retail spaces, and anywhere hygiene, durability, and safety underfoot are priorities.

Not sure which system is right for your project? We'll assess your space and recommend the most suitable option based on use, aesthetics, and budget.

Are epoxy floors slippery?

This is one of the most common concerns — and it's understandable given how high-gloss some finishes look. The honest answer is: it depends on the specification. A standard high-gloss epoxy without any additive can be slippery when wet.

That's why we offer anti-slip aggregate as standard across all our flooring systems. A fine aggregate is broadcast into the topcoat to increase surface grip without significantly affecting the visual finish. We'll always discuss slip resistance requirements with you before installation, particularly for kitchens, entrances, wet rooms, and any commercial space with public access.

How long does an epoxy floor last?

A professionally installed epoxy floor, properly prepared and finished with the correct topcoat, can last well over a decade with routine maintenance. The single biggest factor in longevity is the quality of the surface preparation — specifically the grinding and priming stages before any resin is applied. We use professional-grade diamond grinding equipment and XPS-approved primer systems on every job, which is why our installations stand the test of time.

What topcoat do you use — and does it matter?

Yes, significantly. The topcoat is the final layer of protection between the floor and everything that lands on it — foot traffic, spills, UV light, cleaning chemicals, and in commercial settings, wheeled loads and machinery.

We apply XPS-approved topcoat systems specified to your environment:

  • Residential topcoats are optimised for aesthetics, easy cleaning, and everyday domestic use
  • Commercial & industrial topcoats are higher-build systems with greater chemical and abrasion resistance, rated for heavy use

Using the wrong topcoat is a false economy — it's one of the reasons we always discuss your intended use before specifying the job.

Do I need to move out or close during installation?

For residential projects, you'll need to keep the area clear during installation and allow adequate curing time before foot traffic. For commercial projects, we work closely with you to plan installation around your operational requirements — including out-of-hours or weekend working where needed.

Are you XPS qualified?

Yes. Contemporary Resin Designs holds full Xtreme Polishing Systems (XPS) professional qualification. We use XPS products exclusively across all our flooring installations, and our qualification means every job is carried out to the standard that XPS certification requires. It's not just a badge — it reflects genuine training, product knowledge, and a commitment to quality that protects your investment.

How long does it take to complete a worktop and will I need to throw away my existing worktop?

The good news is that we can use your existing worktop in most cases and theres no need to remove your worktops, we work directly in the chosen room.

It takes approximatley 3-4 days to fully complete a worktop or flooring installation:

Day 1 - Preparation

Days 2 & 3 - Epoxy pour - The epoxy will take 48 hours to harden

Day 4 - Top coat application - Heat, UV & scratch resistant along with food safe.

Do you offer custom epoxy resin designs?

Yes, we offer custom epoxy resin designs tailored to your specifications.

What materials do you use for your creations?

We only use high-quality epoxy resin and premium materials to ensure durability and beauty in all our creations.

How long does it take to receive a custom piece?

The time frame for receiving a custom piece varies depending on the complexity of the design, but we strive to deliver within 10 working days.

What areas do you cover?
